This course guide
This course guide was created to help you find resources for research papers and other writing assignments for ENL270. It was designed to get you started on your research by showing you the types of materials that are available. It is in no way comprehensive. If you need help locating materials, I would be happy to help you, so please contact me. My contact info is in the box at the right.
Selecting Key Words
Choose words that best describe your topic. If your topic is the "use of obscenity by women stand-up comics," you'll want to search the obvious words obscenity, women, and comics. You'll also want to think of other ways to express those ideas in case your original search does not produce the books or articles you want. For example:
Censorship is a word that relates to obscenity.
The term gender is another way to express male/female.
Comics is the current term, but comics were formerly known as comedians or comediennes (female), so if you are interested in women comics of the 1950s, you may need to search the older term.
