The American Gear Manufacturers Association is a voluntary association of companies, consultants, and academicians with a direct interest in the design, manufacture, and application of gears, couplings and related power transmission components and equipment.

Founded in 1902, AMT represents and promotes U.S.-based manufacturing technology and its members—those who design, build, sell, and service the continuously evolving technology that lies at the heart of manufacturing.

Founded in 1983 by the members of the Machinery Dealers National Association, the AMEA has grown to a membership of nearly 300 appraisers, who draw upon their years of buying and selling in the same marketplace as they are appraising, for the unique insight to provide the quality assessment and accurate valuation of equipment that goes into each and every competent and ethical appraisal produced by members of the AMEA. The AMEA's mission is to certify and accredit the most qualified capital equipment appraisers in the appraisal industry through promotion of standards of professional appraisal practice, ethical conduct, and market-based experience.

MDNA is an international nonprofit trade association, established in 1941 to promote the used machinery industry. Today, MDNA boasts almost 400 members worldwide. The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) was formed in 1995 by the metalworking trade associations to develop and maintain globally competitive American workforce. NIMS sets skills standards for the industry, certifies individual skills against the standards and accredits training programs that meet NIMS quality requirements. NIMS operates under rigorous and highly disciplined processes as the only developer of American National Standards for the nation’s metalworking industry accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

The NTMA is the national representative of the custom precision manufacturing industry in the United States.

The PMPA is an international trade association representing the interests of the precision machined products industry. While PMPA consists mainly of North America based manufacturers, its members also operate facilities in various industrial markets around the globe. Founded in 1933 (formerly the National Screw Machine Products Association) the association is known today as the premier provider of programs and services for the industry. The Association for Manufacturing Excellence is North America’s premier organization for the exchange of knowledge in Organizational Excellence through the implementation of techniques such as Lean Tools, Leadership, Lean Product Development. The Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA) is a professional organization with more than 2,000 individual and company members working together to improve the metal forming and fabricating industry. Founded in 1970, FMA brings metal fabricators and manufacturers together through technology councils, educational programs, networking events, and FABTECH. SMRP is a nonprofit professional society formed by practitioners, with a mission to serve leaders and advancing Reliability and Physical Asset Management. The National Resource Center for Materials Technology Education (MatEd) is an NSF funded resource center focused on materials science. A key goal of the center was to identify and validate core competencies needed by materials technicians and general technicians. MatEd’s Vision is to be the focal point where industry, education and community collaborate to meet materials technology workforce needs.
