ENL221: The Craft of Research: Detective Fiction

A research guide for the students of Dr. Debra Morris's ENL221 class, Detective Fiction.

Finding Sources

You'll find information in books, articles, and eBooks using these sources. Try the phrase "literary criticism" along with an author's name or character's name.

Search these databases for articles containing literary criticism, for historical information about the time period in which a story or novel was written, or for biographical information about an author. Google Scholar may lead you to more articles but may not lead to full text; don't forget that you can use our Journal Locator to find out if one of our databases has full-text available. Follow the instructions in "Do We Own It?" in the box below.

Some more places you can find both biographical and historical information.

Our "Cite Sources" Research Guide will assist you with nine citation styles, including MLA and APA.
