Search inside Books
Search GoogleBooks the contents inside hundreds of books. Not all of them have the complete contents, but by clicking on "Find in a Library", you may discover that the book is located right here in the Madigan Library!
Search for cookbooks in the Madigan Library catalog Worldcat. Remember we may not have a book on "key lime pies", so try searching for "pies' or "pastry".
NOTE: The cookbooks are located in the TX call number range area on the second floor.
Search for a topic in eBooks on EBSCOhost and click on a title. Then search for the "Most Relevant Pages From this eBook" in the left hand side bar or at the bottom of the record.

try searching "chef's biography" or "cooks biography" if you do not have a specifc chef in mind
try searching your chef as a keyword using quotation marks: "julia child"
to search your chef as a subject (books about him/her), start your search with su:last name, first name
to search for books written by your chef (his/her works), start your search with au:last name, first name
use Advanced Search to combine search categories, as well as limit by date, format, etc.
remember we may not have a book on a particular chef, but he or she may be listed in a book featuring a number of chefs, e.g., Great Chefs of the East
to search other libraries, select Libraries Worldwide from the drop-down box

If you do not find a book specifically about a certain figure, you may need to search more broadly and look at the Table of Contents or the Index of a book to see if your influential figure is mentioned there or in a more comprehensive source. Find others source books by searching WorldCat.
