Your Word Project has four (4) parts.
Follow the sample annotated bibliography format shown on this page to complete your Word Project. If you have any questions, please ask your professor, CSC124 tutor, or librarian for help.
The purpose of an annotated bibliography is to provide a summary of the articles used in a project to easily keep a record of them and and remember each article. Often used in longer projects, this makes sure that you understand the information in each article and, based on what you wrote in your summary, refer back to the information in that article.
Huang, C.-Y., Lou, S.-J., Cheng, Y.-M., & Chung, C.-C. (2020). Research on Teaching a Welding Implementation Course Assisted
by Sustainable Virtual Reality Technology. Sustainability, 12(23), 10044-10065. doi:10.3390/su122310044
In this journal, Huang et al. (2020) assessed whether using virtual reality as a tool to assist traditional welding instruction was effective. After integrating virtual reality welding practice into the course for 18 weeks, the authors concluded that the students' welding skills significantly improved based on their post-test welding practice scores (Huang et al., 2020). The authors specifically note that, "...in terms of the repeatability and safety of VR-assisted welding teaching, students can practice repeatedly in a safe environment and save the cost of relevant materials, which is sustainable and worth promoting" (Huang et al., 2020, p. 10061).
This article is relevant to my major, welding, because learning to weld using virtual reality and traditional welding techniques allows students' welding skills to improve. Learning to weld with virtual reality also provides a safe environment and decreases the costs of consumable materials.
The plagiarism, the taking of someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as your own, is an action that could cause you to fail your course or assignment and even lead to your expulsion from college. But plagiarism's close relation, paraphrasing, can be confusing.
Paraphrasing, the rewording of someone else's written or spoken words, still counts as academic dishonesty even though you rephrase a quote because the original idea is not your own. Paraphrased sentences still need an in text citation within the work because you are quoting someone else's words or ideas.
When properly cited, paraphrasing is beneficial because it engages your brain and requires you to understand what you have read or heard so that you can rephrase it. Paraphrasing is more often used in professional writing, so knowing how to paraphrase can help prepare you for your career. While paraphrasing might be difficult at first, once you practice it, it will become easier and benefit you in the future.
