The Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations

The National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE) is a standardized test to evaluate the preparedness of individuals for the study and practice of dental hygiene. The exam is comprised of 350 multiple-choice questions divided into two groups:

  • 200 questions in component A (scientific basis for dental hygiene practice, provision of clinical dental hygiene services, and community health/research principles)
  • 150 questions in component B (12-15 dental hygiene patient cases)
