NUR270 Childbearing Nursing: Library Resources

Resources for both Laura Landis and Tara Koser's sections.

Database Access

Be sure to use direct links from the Madigan Library website or research guide like this to access our resources, and not Google the database name.  We pay to license these resources, and vendors send us specifically scripted links that we have to use to access them.  If you are off-campus, you will be required to authenticate yourself by logging in with your PCT credentials.

Database Access & Search Tips

  • Use the suggestions offered by CINAHL when you start to type a keyword or phrase, to capture as many synonyms in your search at once as you can (this will save you TIME!)
    • Example:  When entering the word "advantages," it auto-suggests advantages OR benefits OR pros OR good OR positive
  • Use plain language when searching PubMed; do not use quotations marks
    • Example:  search folic acid AND pregnancy, not "folic acid" AND pregnancy
  • Use the ~ symbol in Google Scholar to find synonyms (this will also save you TIME!)
    • Example:  ~baby will also retrieve infant, newborn, neonate, etc.
