What are statistics?

Statistics is the plural form of statistic, which means either a single item in a statistical study, or a quantity calculated from the data in a sample, which characterizes an important aspect in the sample (such as a mean or an average).

Statistics can be used to support your thesis or ideas on a particular topic.
