The purpose of copyright law is to give protection, for a limited time, to authors of original works. Copyright law is also designed to promote science and the arts by facilitating the dissemination of knowledge.
Monitors copyright law, recommends changes to Penn College policy and procedure as appropriate, and provides general guidance to Penn College employees and students regarding copyright and fair use.
United States Copyright Office, a department of the Library of Congress, is charged with administering the nation's copyright laws for the advancement of the public good; to offer services and support to authors and users of creative works; and to provide expert impartial assistance to Congress, the courts, and executive branch agencies on questions of copyright law and policy.
