History of Psychology® features refereed articles addressing all aspects of psychology's past and of its interrelationship with the many contexts within which it has emerged and has been practiced. It also publishes scholarly work in closely related areas, such as historical psychology (the history of consciousness and behavior), psychohistory, theory in psychology as it pertains to history, historiography, biography and autobiography, and the teaching of the history of psychology.

Publishes syntheses of research in scientific psychology. Research syntheses seek to summarize past research by drawing overall conclusions from many separate investigations that address related or identical hypotheses.

Publishes articles that make important theoretical contributions to any area of scientific psychology, including systematic evaluation of alternative theories.

Published three times per year by the Association for Psychological Science, Psychological Science in the Public Interest (PSPI) is a unique journal featuring comprehensive and compelling reviews of issues that are of direct relevance to the general public. These reviews are written by blue-ribbon teams of specialists representing a range of viewpoints and are intended to assess the current state-of-the-science with regard to the topic. Among other things, PSPI reports have challenged the validity of the Rorschach and other projective tests, have explored how to keep the aging brain sharp, and have documented problems with the current state of clinical psychology.

Published articles most often belong to the field of developmental, cognitive, educational, clinical, health, organisational, evolutionary, and personality psychology. The Journal is published three times per year, with the first number dedicated to a specific topic. The goal of the Journal is to create a communication link not only between scientists from different areas of research, but to allow implementation of modern scientific knowledge into psychological practice.
