Behavioral health data collected includes: Prevalence of mental illness and substance use disorders; behavioral health service provision and use; and evaluation data.

CPES provides data on the distributions, correlates, and risk factors of mental disorders among the general population, with special emphasis on minority groups. CPES permits the investigation of cultural and ethnic influences on mental health.

CBHSQ maintains several data collection systems and surveys on key topics in U.S. behavioral health, including: The National Survey on Drug Use and Health, which measures behavioral health indicators across the United States; and The Behavioral Health Services Information System, which collects information on the U.S. behavioral health treatment system and connects people with substance use and mental health treatment through the Behavioral Health Treatment Services Locator.

From the World Health Organization, Project Atlas of the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse is designed to collect, compile and disseminate data on mental health and neurology resources in the world. Resources include policies, programmes, financing, services, professionals, treatment and medicines, information systems and related organizations. These resources are necessary to provide services and care for people with mental, behavioural and neurological diseases/disorders.
