A thesaurus is a reference work that lists words grouped together according to similarity of meaning (containing synonyms and sometimes antonyms), in contrast to a dictionary, which contains definitions and pronunciations.
Covers nearly all areas of concern addressed in intakes, evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and closing summaries. Also provided are interview questions for almost every symptomatic behavior, a huge collection of mental status questions, a reproducible Mental Status Evaluation summary form, and links to hundreds of internet resources.
The Thesaurus contains the vocabulary used by the American Psychological Association when indexing all of its electronic databases in order to maintain consistency. The 11th edition contains 214 new postable index terms (listed together in a table) and revision of many terms, either to include retrospective indexing, to change their spelling or text, or to delete them because of insufficient use or overlap with other terms. The list of 2019 updates are available on the APA website.
