Biographies: Architects

A biography is a detailed description or account of someone's life and the times, which is told by a different author. In addition to impersonal facts, it also portrays the subject's experience of those events.

Search for Articles

To identify articles written by and about your architect in US Newsstream:

  • Use the Advanced Search and click on the down arrow next to search by All fields + text and choose Person--PER;
  • Click on Look up People and enter your author's name;
  • Check off all boxes next to the names and click Add to Search, then click Search;
  • Use Narrow results by menu to better focus your results list;
  • Use the Suggested subjects section to see other headings ProQuest uses for your author;
  • Use Find a copy to see if the article you need is in another database or in the library's collection;
  • Use interlibrary loan to request articles we do not have.

Search Tips

  • Search your architect as a keyword using quotation marks:  "frank lloyd wright"
  • To search your architect as a subject (books about him/her), start your search with su:last name, first name
  • To search for books written by your architect (his/her works), start your search with au:last name, first name
  • Use Advanced Search to combine search categories, as well as limit by date, format, etc.
  • To search other libraries, select Libraries Worldwide
