Madigan Library affirms the following American Library Association policies:

Censorship

Madigan Library affirms the American Library Association’s “Freedom to Read Statement” and adheres to the Library Bill of Rights, tenet #3: “Libraries should challenge censorship in the fulfillment of their responsibility to provide information and enlightenment.” To this end, the Library also adheres to tenet #11, stated in the Intellectual Freedom Principles for Academic Libraries: An Interpretation of the Library Bill of Rights, which states that “A procedure ensuring due process should be in place to deal with requests by those within and outside the academic community for removal or addition of library resources, exhibits or services.”
